Chinese Herbs (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Chinese herbs have served as the foundation for "Traditional Chinese Medicine", or TCM, for over 5,000 years. The fundamental idea of living in harmony with nature and the environment forms the basis for the use of Chinese herbs as well as the traditional Chinese approach to health.TCM is based on the Chinese concept of "Qi" (usually translated as "vital energy") and the theory of "yin and yang" (the harmony of all the opposite elements and forces that make up existence). It believes that:
-
Harmony brings health, wellbeing, and sustainability.
-
Disharmony leads to illness, disease, and collapse.
When yin or yang forces or qi/vital energy levels are off-balance in the body and spirit, health problems arise. Chinese herbs and herbal remedies are used to help realign an individual’s yin or yang balance in order to improve overall well-being. Chinese herbal formulas include hundreds of popular organic ingredients that work in harmony to produce the desired effects in a person’s body. These ingredients are primarily of plant origin, and may include roots, bark, seeds, flowers and leaves. Each organic ingredient typically has unique characteristics ( yin/yang balancing, qi/vital energy boosting, etc.) that are reinforced and harmonized in comprehensive ancient Chinese herbal formulas that have been passed down through the years.Chinese herbs are now experiencing a rapid increase in usage and popularity. Health-conscious consumers are concerned about the concentration of synthetic chemicals in western diets, medicines, and the general environment. Chinese herbs are being welcomed by progressive western consumers who are seeking natural, healthy and balanced alternative remedies.

Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin; it mobilizes blood flow in order to promote healing.
Suction is created using heat (fire) or mechanical devices (hand or electrical pumps).
Through either heat or suction, the skin is gently drawn upwards by creating a vacuum in a cup over the target area of the skin. The cup stays in place for five to ten minutes. It treats pain, deep scar tissues in the muscles and connective tissue, muscle knots, swelling as well as reduce dampness.

Gua Sha
Gua sha is an ancient healing technique of TCM. Both acute and chronic pain,is
the most common indication for gua sha. In TCM component, pain is oftentimes caused by the stagnation of blood in the local area of discomfort. This technique has the ability to break up stagnation, to promote the smooth flow of blood in the area, thereby relieving pain.It helps conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, fever, heatstroke, strains, sprains, and muscle spasms.
In this procedure, a lubricating medium, such as massage oil or medicated oilment, is applied to the skin of the area to be treated. A smooth-edged instrument is used to apply short or long strokes on the skin, typically in the area of pain or on the back parallel to the spine. This stroking motion creates raised redness (petechiae) or bruising (ecchymosis) and it takes about 5-10 days to fade away.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the burning of mugwort, a small, spongy herb, to facilitate healing.
The purpose of moxibustion, as with most forms of traditional Chinese medicine, is to strengthen the blood, stimulate the flow of qi, and maintain general health.
The burning of moxa is believed to expel cold and warm the meridians, which leads to smoother flow of blood and qi.
Studies believes moxibustion increases the movement of the fetus in pregnant women, and reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramps when used in conjunction with traditional acupuncture.
